Lansing City Market provides the Greater Lansing region, and out-of-town guests, a year-round, one-of-a-kind shopping and entertainment experience.
Established in 1909, the Market’s reconstruction along the Grand River has strengthened Lansing’s downtown corridor by creating a welcoming home for Lansing-based merchants. Currently the Market features a wide variety of merchants offering: kayak, bike, and canoe rentals (weather-permitting), Michigan-made food items, artisan cheese, fresh flowers, jewelry, Lansing- and Michigan-made gifts, souvenirs, and a full-service bar and grill.
The City Market regularly hosts community events for all ages, most at no cost. Events can range from holiday-related daytime events to evening concerts. See our event calendar for the most up-to-date event information and be sure to sign up for our weekly e-newsletter.
I love the Lansing City Market for a variety of reasons. I like to support local businesses, and the Market is home to many local merchants that serve up great food, like Red’s Smokehouse, or offer an undeniable great service, like urban kayaking or cycling through River Town Adventures. And the location --- along the river front in the heart of downtown Lansing – is quite simply the most scenic and picturesque spot in the city.
As a resident of Downtown Lansing, I love being able to walk down the street to the Lansing City Market for products from local vendors as well as good eats and drinks. I can't imagine our downtown without the Lansing City Market!
I love the Lansing City Market because it embraces the diversity of #LoveLansing. From its unique vendors to its city-wide special events, there is always something happening at the market. It’s one of Lansing’s many gems!
As a strong Love Lansing advocate, I enjoy having the Lansing City Market at my disposal to be connected to the community and keep a finger on the pulse of Downtown Lansing. Whether its shopping, kayaking, dining, classes or events, The Lansing City Market always has something going on to be a part of. I have gotten to know the staff and vendors that work there and they make you feel like you are a part of something. The market supports local artists and musicians, giving them an opportunity to be part of the community. The market staff is very helpful and are always willing to listen to suggestions and brainstorm how to keep the market moving forward.
Lansing City Market isn't a farmers market, it's so much more. It seems like there are always fun events happening there both for kids and adults. It's definitely one of my favorite spots in town!
The City Market can be a great place for a small business to grow and for young entrepreneurs to learn.
I love the combination of the shopping, the “adventures,” the dining options, and the events that the City Market has. It is such a fun and unique place! Everyone needs to check it out.
