The Lansing City Market has always been a made-in-Michigan mecca, and right now is no different. If you love the state of Michigan, the Market makes it really easy to celebrate our special state. Capital Loop Gifts is a Michigan- and Lansing-themed gift shop, featuring unique handmade gifts from local artists as well as souvenirs, apparel, and Michigan-made food items. River Town Adventures offers kayaking trips all around the greater Lansing area on some of Michigan’s greatest waterways. The Waterfront Bar and Grill offers locally sourced food, as well as Michigan beers and wines. Much of the jewelry and all of the floral arrangements at LS Jewelry Designs and Florals has been made right here in Lansing. The confections at Candy-Painted Treats, here at the Market all day on Saturdays in August and September, are handmade here in Lansing.
It would take a long time to list every Michigan item in Capital Loop Gifts, so we’ll just highlight a few. The Mackinac Bridge flask is a one-of-a-kind piece featuring a beautiful image of our iconic bridge and is only $18.95. Youth-sized Captain Michigan t-shirts have just been added to the store’s selection of t-shirts, after the adult sizes became very popular. They are $22.95 each, or you can mix or match them with another t-shirt for a total of $40.
Experience a new way to love your state with a kayak or canoe trip on the Grand River, provided by River Town Adventures. For only $20 a kayak and $30 a canoe, paddle from your shuttled location of the beautiful Moores Park to the City Market in 1 and 1/2 hours. Grab a River Town Adventures souvenir hat ($17.95) or t-shirt ($22.95) to commemorate your experience and humble brag about your accomplishment.
The Waterfront Bar and Grill offers a wide array of Michigan beers on tap, in bottles, and in cans. Founders Brewing Company All Day IPA (from Grand Rapids) is only $2 for a 12 oz can every day. Three Michigan beers were just added on tap this week: Arcadia Whitsun (from Battle Creek) for $5.25 a pint, Acoustic Tropical Mead (from Traverse City) for $6 a pint, and Ellison Tiramisu Stout (East Lansing) for $6.25 a pint.
This week, our newest merchant, Lansing-based Candy-Painted Treats, has added candy painted apples in caramel and triple chocolate with sprinkles and nuts to their list of products, which include chocolate-dipped pretzels, chocolate-dipped strawberries, rice crispy treats dipped in chocolate, and chocolate-covered Oreos. They are also now offering chocolate-dipped strawberry demos! Come to the Market on Saturdays through September between 11 and 3 pm to see the demo!
